Hi,
There's a lot useful information about Nikkor lens here:

I hope this helps,
Regards

I was considering the purchase of a Nikon fisheye lens (8mm 2.8). However, the AI prong and f-stop coupling ring have been removed from the lens so that it could be mounted on a movie camera. This raises a couple of questions:
1) Would the lens be completely screwed by this? Or would it work just fine in manual mode, how you would likely use it for shooting panos anyhow?
2) If I wanted to fix the lens by replacing the removed connectors, would that be feasible? Is the AI prong irrelevant to a DSLR anyhow? The serial number of this lens is 240771, which makes it an AI lens. It was 243001 when they started AIS. If I could and did get the coupling ring replaced, would this lens work to let the camera display exposure information?
Sorry for going OT and perhaps asking an ignorant question.
John
