I'd love to try this, but it's the getting hold of 50+ cameras thats the
problem !! One day I'll have the cash kicking around for it.

Remember that a patent only covers the exact description of the patent.
This patent describes a very automatic setup which transfers the
images automatically and creates the movie.
If you take 50 cameras with 50 cards and does that manually you do
not challenge the patent.
You can easy trigger 50 cameras with a simple radiocontrol or
probably using a standard infrared remote.
