Virtual Tour with Audio on a Hand Held device

Hi All,

I've been reading the discussion 'solutions for viewing panos on PDAs' with
interest. I have a client that requires a similar kind of thing, I'll
explain....

We are working on a large tour of quite a large building which is open to
the public. The project will probably take around a year for us to complete
so there is no rush to come up with solutions straight away.

Our client would like to use the tour in three different ways, one of which
we can do but the others we will need help on. The tour will be going onto
there website as you would expect, this much we can do ourselves though I
will be trying some techical shots that I might need some help with.

They would like for the general public to be able to view the tour with
audio on a hand held device and a static computer placed in the building.

Hand Held device -
The client has used audio tours before, I expect you've all seen them
before. They would like to upgrade this to a audio visual tour using our VR
photography. I understand reading the other discussion that there are a few
possible solutions, the Palm TX sounds like it might be suitable. I need to
come up with a solution that is easly usable by the general public. It
needs to be easly navagatable with a pre deturmined root and have the option
to jump to other locations if people don't want to follow the root. The
tour needs to be locked so people can't mess up the hand held device. My
concern was that these devices aren't cheap like an audio player and are
very nickable. They are ok with this, have security mesures in place.

Static Computer/s
I've heard of this as a kiosk before, is that right? Basically as above
needs to be pretty bomb proof and easy to use.

I think you'll understand the idea. Has anyone got any thoughts on this and
posible solutions? If you have please let me know. It's going to be an
interesting project to work on.

Cheers,

Pete
