Re: Virtual Tour with Audio on a Hand Held device

Hi Pete,

I am a little late to this thread, but wanted to mention something relevant. iShell mobile would have been good for developing something like this. Unfortunately, Tribeworks pulled it from the market to use only internally. They are still developing handheld media for Palm, but under the name <http://www.sparkalley.com/>, which is one of the companies that resulted from the fissioning of Tribeworks into iShell and everything else. I was one of the folks who bought iShell mobile; it was very cool for developing things for Palm and easy to use. I don't recall whether you could have QTVR and audio simultaneously or not, but probably so. You might want to farm out the development of the player to sparkalley.

Just my 2 cents,

John

Hand Held device -
The client has used audio tours before, I expect you've all seen them
before. They would like to upgrade this to a audio visual tour using our VR
photography. I understand reading the other discussion that there are a few
possible solutions, the Palm TX sounds like it might be suitable. I need to
come up with a solution that is easly usable by the general public. It
needs to be easly navagatable with a pre deturmined root and have the option
to jump to other locations if people don't want to follow the root. The
tour needs to be locked so people can't mess up the hand held device. My
concern was that these devices aren't cheap like an audio player and are
very nickable. They are ok with this, have security mesures in place.

Cheers,

Pete
