My first pano taken with a monopod. After reading all the posts some months back on monopds, I was really interested in trying one. Will take some getting used to, though I was surprised how well PTgui handled the stitching. Three rows each of 12 shots around, plus one zenith and two nadir shots (took advantage of PTgui's alpha capabilities by masking out the pano head). I messed up somewhere along the line, either rotating the pano head and forgetting to shoot, or otherwise turning the monopod too much because there were a few large gaps I had to clone in, as you can see from the original stitch here; I used a Bogen-Manfrotto monopod - really nice piece of equipment. It has support legs that can unscrew from the bottom, but I didn't use those for the above sample. I wanted to consult the list threads for monopod recommendations, but the urge to impulse buy was just too powerful (and who can walk out of B&H photo only with what they originally came in for?). I used this just once so far, but I think I'll be happy with this piece of equipment. Anyone have recommendations on what can be used with the Canon Digital Rebel to extend the wire for its shutter release if I'm holding the monopod way above my head ? Peter G. |
