now that's what I call something that does not "feel" right when navigating. But maybe it is because I am used to QuickTime/SPi-V/ptviewer/PurePlayer/DevalVR all going by the same navigation.

They seem to have chosen to move the "camera" viewpoint in the direction that the mouse moves. This is very much the way 3D authoring programs work, but I'm not sure a naive user is going to operate the interface as if they were behind a camera (rather than manipulating an object that's in front of them). It would be interesting to a usability test on the issue!

I don't think that I care for things swinging around without holding the mouse down, but at least a beginner should instantly get the connection. (I've read comments that visitors of panorama sites often fail to ever click and drag inside the display window!)
