True. But of course similar things can be said about the sensors in every digital camera, although not for precisely the same technical reasons.

For example, it seems that the D200 records the RGB data separately using 4mp for red and 3mp each for green and blue - and interpolates that the composite results to 10mp. The S5 Pro records RGB using 6mp and another 6mp for the highlight data. We're all working with interpolated digital photo data in reality, just in different ways!

Actual S5 Pro tests all seem to show that it has the resolving power of 10mp+ digital SLRs. I've just got back from doing serious damage to my credit card, so I'll be able to test this out first-hand. As soon as I've caught up with some work!

Anyway yes, you're absolutely right about depth, range and tone being more important than absolute pixel resolution. It is the quality and fidelity of the final pixels that counts the most, not how many pixels there are.
