Re: VRs on iPod Touch

Willy,
That is a great suggestion, I never thought of that, I will try that sometime. However that doesn't really address the problem mentioned. I mean if I had a laptop with me I would just show my panos on the laptop without worrying about setting up internet sharing. The problem is how to store and retrieve panos on the iPod/Phone so that we can use the device to show off our work where ever we are, even in airplanes, or out in the country or the many other places where there is not going to be internet access. There is in the App Store something called FileMagnet that will upload any files including folders with the xml and jpgs needed for PangeaVR but I just don't know what the file paths would be to access the files in PangeaVR Anyone have any clues on the inner workings there??

John,
I think my daughter would have loved to have the iPod Touch but she wasn't paying for the computer and she has an iPod Nano anyway plus she is getting her own Macbook : )

As long as you can get online with your notebook even with dialup....

you can set your notebook with one click for internet sharing and have it as a WiFi Hotspot. Problem resolved ( it is that easy with a Mac, hope with XP and vista too....)

the PangeaVR viewer is great but you do need to be "connected". I envision being able to show people ANYwhere, whether or not WiFi is available, my panos on the iPod.

This is definitely a very important point for me too. I have an iPhone, and I just spent the weekend deep in the countryside shooting panos in a major dance music festival. I wasn't able to show anyone my existing panos (from previous festivals and clubs) on Pangea VR, because the mobile phone networks were totally saturated by everyone trying to make calls. Even voice calls failed nine times out of ten during the day and evenings, and any data access was a total washout.

I love being able to browse through different panorama portfolios, but what I really want this for - and would pay for - is the ability to store my own panos on my iPhone so I can use it to show people my stuff, whenever and wherever I might be: on the London Underground, in an airplane, or in a promotor's caravan in the middle of a field filled with dancing fools. :-)
