Hi karol
Did you get no reply at your question yet?
I have made a lot of research for 360 video.
I have a one-shot lens (0-360) and I tested it with a Canon HV20 HDV
camcorder.
Only basics test, but I got really poor results, if I make comparations with
panoramas!
So I stopped the tests suddendly.
Because:
1) lens quality is poor
2) resolution very low
HDV camera is 1440x1080 pixel, but the center of the Canon CCD is not at
the center of the frame.
So you get a small circle diameter (about 800px) and loose a lot of
pixels.
3) you get only 100° vfov
There also also other critical points about 360 video:
-stabilization: if you swing a bit, panoramas make waves!
-exposure: easy to go over or under exposed, no HDR possible!
I think that a one-shot lens is good only to do photo panoramas
with a high resolution camera in particular situations:
- live (ex: shows, crowded places)
- high volume - low cost panoramas (ex: all the rooms of a Hotel)
However if you want something of simple and you don't need high resolution
you can go with combo camcorder+one shot.
I really like Ladybug2, however it is not simple to get really good results,
and you have additional problems:
- you have to take with you a very fast (and possible lightweight) notebook
- external bettery
- stabilization and exposure problems remains
- parallax error with object near the camera
- budget
If you want to spend less, the only solution is to create a 360 video system
yourself.
Based on Peter Murphy suggestions you could try this something like this
combo:
4 USB HIGH-RES CAM (CCD 1/2") + MINI FISHEYE-LENS:

it should work, but I have no ability, time and money to test and risk for
it.
I would like to discuss this solution with the list: what do you think
about?
other solutions: Bill Meikle 2004 (a pionner ot 360 video, now
Ladybugged...)

A lot of other solutions:

Let me know if you find some other interesting solution.
Good luck!

I want to ask about possibilities of creating video panoramas.
One of the solution that I found is to use GoPano 360 One Shot Optic
with HD camcorder and VideoWarp software.
Has anyone using such system? What camcorder do you use with this
mirror lens?
Can you send me links that I could read more about similar solutions,
less expensive than Ladybug2?
