Chris, well put and well said... I actually have that same problem. For me it is with 3D Studio Max 9 and x64 and of course the rendering engine is also x64 and I typically use 12GB of RAM for renderings above 3000x3000 pixels. Not to mention Photoshop PSB files of multi row panos at huge amounts of memory. x64 makes my life possible with these tools.

I can not imagine that x64 QTVR use is more than 1% of the total user population and maybe even 10% of the producer user base. I actually think most people are affraid of statemenets that there is lots of trouble with x64 XP and Vista and just stay away without bothering to try it themselves. I have had ONLY one huge problem with RAID drivers... after NVIDIA solved that, I have been in heaven.

I have been making a living selling my scenic QTVRs on CD for about ten
years. Over that time I have sold about 30,000 copies of my products
mostly from computerized kiosks at the National Parks in the
southwestern U.S. Since there are at least 100 of my panos on each CD,
that means I have sold over 3,000,000 copies of my individual .mov files.

I have yet to receive feedback from a customer that my products do not
work on their computer. (Of course I hear from customers who don't know
how to turn on the machine, etc., but so far I have been able to get
everybody happy with the product they have purchased.)

I don't have a 64 bit operating system on any of my own Win based
computers, so I have not tested, myself, if my QTVR products will work
with Vista or XP 64 bit. My products display using the QuickTime
Player, not the plug in. But I would think I would be hearing from
owners of 64 bit machines if my products were DOA on them.

That said, in developing my newest title, which will be out soon, I have
used the features of Pano2VR to create both .mov and .srx files of every
panorama, and I am proceeding with the interface development using the
.srx files. I have the .mov files in reserve in case I run into
problems along the way that will require them, but so far it looks like
the Flash panos will be the ones I use. I like the way they operate and
move and look better than the QTVR ones.

Also, I am going to make the move to DVD-R with the new title and will
be migrating all my other products to both Flash and DVD-R as I prepare
new masters for the next generation of each title.
