Re: QTVR and Vista Ultimate 64

HI, I'm dealing with a perhaps related issue with a friend whose department recently installed MS 2007 suite, whatever that means.

Here's what she said:
My computer is feeling ill I guess. Ever since they installed MS 2007 suite, it’s been downhill.
I ended up watching the YouTube version of the jellyfish, so that might have something to do with it. I had to close Explorer down each time I tried the other way.

My movies aren't QTVR though. Mark, can you tell me if you can play one or either or both of these movies? One is code from Apple exported as QuickTIme for Web.

The other is code for an Eolas fix that I use from Dreamweaver:

I will ask her to test a QTVR too and let you know of success or failure there. I haven't heard from her if the Fix works for her. In any case, I too will file an Apple Bug.
Thanks and am looking forward to the resolution of our bugs.

I had a few headaches getting everything up and running, but that was more due to the MB I picked and the configuration I choose to have in the system.

As for Vista Ultimate 64, I like it a lot so far.  People bash Vista for being unstable and mainly for just being different.  But as you use it, it grows on you.  Like the new Office 07.  You have to get used to the new way of doing it... and it ends up faster and easier.

As for programs not working, QTVR is the ONLY thing so far I haven't been able to get to work.  I can play movies in QT, just not VR.  PTGui, Pano2QTVR (until it displays using QT), CS3 Suite all work well.  Even Premiere Elements and Quickbooks run just fine.

The system is fast... and seeing PTGui stitch and PS run batch operations is amazing.  I put a little processor monitor in my gadget bar... so it's fun to watch what's doing what when and where.  The 4G of RAM helps, too.  PS will use up to the 3.6 limit, and the OS will use the remainder.  It's great.

The QT hotfix for windows, though, isn't a supported fix.  You have to email MS that you need the fix, then they send you a link that expires to the file.  I don't get it... I just do what I need to to keep the system from crashing.

As for getting a Mac, Boris, when you already have invested money in all the software you have, you can't afford to switch platforms in the middle.  The costs to move to Mac just wasn't an option.  I thought about it, believe me.

So no one has run into this display problem, then?  I guess I'll file a bug report at Apple... and pray that it actually causes something to happen.
