RE: why doesn't the QTVR show up in this webpage

Hello Chris,

I’ve basically given up on quicktime, but this is still one of the best forums for information about what’s going on in this industry.

If you want to give your customers a reliable product, across almost all platforms for the foreseeable future use the flash 9 viewers. The flash 8 viewers are ok, but don’t have the hardware acceleration and therefore the smoothness of the flash 9 players; below are the ones I use:

http://flashpanoramas.com/player/   ß this player is great if you have a big catalog of QTVR .mov files, it can read and display them.

The other player that’s great too is:

All the best,

Chris.

 Thank you Hans!

when will this version of Quicktime with the bug fix, be available?

there sure seems to be a rash of Quicktime updates that disable my hotspot activated pop up windows. It happens so much, I am becoming frustrated. I feel like new versions of Quicktime are not adequately tested for QTVR uses. And these bugs really derail me and cause my clients to lose confidence in my product.

thanks again Hans.

Chris

Unfortunatelly removing the plugin on your Mac only solves your problem.

Please make  a bug report about this. http://bugreport.apple.com/

I done a second test.

After removing the plugin 7.2.1 I did a reinstallation of  7.4.1

This installed a new folder with the same name but this one was a 7.4.1

And again your  hotspots did not work in Safari.

Apparently the QuickTime Plugin.webplugin disables simple hotspots in QTVR.

If this is only in the last Quicktime or if it has been the case in also earlier versions I do not know.

We are aware of this bug, which breaks hotspots defined in HTML, it was unfortunately introduced in QuickTime 7.4. We have a fix that will go out with the next version of QuickTime.

What this plugin is used for is another case.  I remember that it has caused problems of different kinds for QTVR since it was introduced. And I believe that was with Quicktime 7

"QuickTime Plugin.webplugin" is a WebKit plug-in (WebKit is the framework used by Safari). While WebKit also supports the type of plug-in used by Firefox, this type of plug-in is required for a plug-in to have a _javascript_ interface. See http://developer.apple.com/documentation/InternetWeb/Conceptual/WebKit_PluginProgTopic/Tasks/WebKitPlugins.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/30001249-BAJGJJAH for details.

The two plug-ins *should* support exactly the same kinds of movies, please file a bug report if you find examples where they do not.

the primary definition of THEORY, is not "a hypothesis".  Rather, it is:

"A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been repeatedly tested or is widely accepted and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena."

Keep that in mind, next tme you hear someone say that the Theory of Evolution is just a theory.
