Re: Directional sound tips?

Setting up things in LiveStage Pro (v4.6.5) the problem becomes obvious - the QTVR has gone linear - not sure why Hans example is working in CC. I've tried multiple file types, runtimes, looping/non-looping and always get the white screen in CC.

I have reproduced the problem. But I am not sure yet if it is a certain way in the workflow that causes it or if it is just random.

I'm not so sure about the random theory. It seems to me that it could be down to one or more of the following:

1) some workflow quirk
2) most recent version(s) of QuickTime

When you reported that your CC-made directional sound movies worked, was this with existing movies? Could the problem be related to making these things in the most recent versions of QuickTime, and you checked in QTVRs that had been *made* with a version prior to 7.4.x, just played back in 7.4.1?

(Yes, I'm grasping at straws here! But CC should work and yet it doesn't.)

However I know what happens.
I opened it in Golive and looked at the tracks.

The first one with all the tracks at the same length fails.

The one with the short Quicktime VR track works.
You can drag the track in Golive and resave it and now the first one works.
All my old QTVR w. sound has the short QTVR Track.

Very interesting! Also *very* interesting that GoLive can fix this problem. (And really great that you've tracked it down like that - thanks!)

I had a quick look at replicating the fix by copying and pasting track fragments in QuickTime player, but although I seem to have replicated the shorter 'QuickTime VR Track' length it still doesn't work right.

Can GoLive bring in directional audio tracks from other movies to build up multiple ones in a single movie? I can install GoLive CS2 or LiveStage Pro, not sure which would be best.

I wouldn't use GL for web editing (I never took to its rather fragmented UI), but I've always been impressed with its QT abilities. LSP is amazing, but it seems most of its features are dead in the water with the current security restrictions in QuickTime. It might just be too heartbreaking to have those things at my fingertips but not be able to use them.

...But it would give me easy access to multiple directional audio tracks...
