Do it yourself. Its easy to do with Heat Shrink sleeves. They come in
various sizes. Electricians work a lot with them when they splice wire
or pvc conduit.
Its strong enough to hold up and snugs right to the lens barrel with hot
air. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat-shrinkable_sleeve
The other alternative is, in case your lens is shaved, to get a pvc pipe
endcap and have it lathed out to 58mm and 61.35mm in steps so it fits
without touching the glass. http://www.skgrimes.com/caps/index.htm
On the other side you can glue a daylight filter or white balance filter
in, so you don't have to pull the cap when measuring the light. That is
what I have done with the sigma8 cap and if the modified
Nikkor lens cap will be lost, i will do the same again.
Ah, and another thing.....add a velcro tape to it and tack it to the pod
or bag, what ever is convenient so it most like will not get lost again.
Aloha, Milko
