I was getting organized a few days ago and came across a folder of
images I shot at the Coyote Buttes on the Paria Plateau in southern

formation called "The Wave" that is sort of near here.

I output it from Pano2VR to Flash. The image quality, while very
impressive, seems a bit more degraded than when I play it back with the
Adobe Flash 9 Player on my computer instead of via the plug-in and
Firefox. Either way I love the way it looks. What do you think?
The day I shot this was an amazing day. There is a little lane that
leads through the sand to within 100 meters of the spot I took these
images from but it is for 4-WD vehicles only and maybe only those with
big tires because of the deep, soft sand on the lane. I had just driven
my old Toyota Corolla on that trip, so I had to walk the last 4 miles
and I just went cross country up to a ridge and then along the ridge
through the pinyon and juniper forest because the place I camped was not
on the jeep trail. No one else was at these incredible formations or
anywhere around for the entire day. There were scarcely even any other
footprints around.
It made me think that this must be what it was like for Seasonal Ranger
Edward Abbey at Arches in the 1950s before the roads were paved and when
he wrote "Desert Solitaire."
