Re: Another advantage of Flash VR

Sometime around 26/3/08 (at 08:07 -0700) Paul Fretheim said:

It appears that the aspect ratio of Flash VRs is not fixed. If I create a QuickTime VR with an aspect ratio of 10 x 4, for example, 1000 pixels x 400 pixels, and someone opens it on a 4 x 3 monitor like a 1280 x 1024 and they choose "Full Screen," the aspect ratio of the QuickTime pano does not change. The viewer gets large black bars above and below the VR.

If you deliver your QTVR within web pages then you can set the scale attribute to ToFit, which is the same as what you like about the scaling behaviour of Flash VR.

By all means, switch to Flash if you feel you get better results. But make sure you aren't missing something first!

Me, I still find I can get better absolute image quality with QTVR, but the issue of what is the right overall format is *far* from clear-cut and definitely depends on the individual subject and the audience's needs and expectations.
