Re: OT - smudge or scratch on sensor - what can I do?

On 3/31/2008 1:18 AM, Dean Weaver's hamster got loose on the keyboard and typed ...:

Peter Gotlib asked about sensor cleaning….

With great trepidation I used:
Eclipse Optic Solution & ‘lint free’ pec-pads

Be advised that the PEC-PAD is NOT recommended for cleaning the CCD per this quote on the ClimaxDigital site.
PEC-PAD is not recommended for cleaning the CCD. It is not the same material used in the SENSOR SWABS. We do not approve or warranty the CCD or any camera part from any damage caused by using non-approved products.

I am in the UK & got them from http://www.warehouseexpress.com/product/default.aspx?sku=1001956

A US example http://www.climaxdigital.com/eclipse_lens_cleaner.html

It worked fine….Hope you find a solution…

Many Thanks – Dean Weaver
