Sierra Lupines and Rainbow and then After a Fire

I sent this message yesterday without the link to a pano of roughly the same area which burned last summer, so there is a big contrast between these two panoramas.  The digest version of my message from yesterday was very abbreviated "html attachment scrubbed" so I guess I broke some rule I don't know about so I am trying again. If you got the links yesterday, I apologize for the duplication of the flower pano link.

The place with all the flowers looked just about the same as the burnt area in the second pano about ten years ago.  You can see this same area in the burnt pano.  It is to the right a few miles from the smoky dust devil in the burnt pano.  If we get some wet springs, the huge burned area could likely be covered with the same giant lupines in a few years.  That species of lupine is the world's largest and is endemic to our area.  Lupinus magnificus magnificus

You got to check this one out.  It's been in the can since '05 and I just got it produced to pano today.  There are some lupines out this spring, but it's not as good as in '05.

What do you think?

Nikon film SLR/Sigma 18 mm lens  Fuji Superia 100 (I use Reala now, it's smoother.  I shoot mostly with the 120 format.  I have been shooting with my D200 in many situations where I used to shoot 35 mm film.)  The fire pano was shot on Reala.  I have a Manfrotto steel type tank pano head that weighs a ton.  I have replaced the very heavy leveling base with a lighter ball head from Markins of Korea.

Photoshop (Is everybody using the "Shadow/Highlight" feature that started with CS2?)

A friend of mine called this morning.  He's leaving to CLIMB K2 in about a month and is also going to be the photographer/videographer for the first ever ski descents of Broad Peak and K2.  His name is Andy Selters.  You may have seen his books around.  His party was the 2nd ever to the top of the Trango Towers and he has many impressive ascents here in the Sierra and around the world.  I wish I could go back to Pakistan, but I can't get away long enough from my business to go this spring as I had hoped.  If you want to follow Andy's expedition, check out the web site at:

k2tallmountain.com

Andy makes his living from his writing and photography and it sounds like he will be doing some panoramic work this time 'round.  I have been helping him with his pano photography, so if we get lucky and Andy is successful, we may see some good panoramic photography from high on K2 and Broad Peak which will be a first, as far as I know, and really cool if it happens.
