desktop client on G3 machines running 9.1 and 9.2 kills cd rom???

I have installed the remote desktop client software on two power Macintosh g3 machines os 9.1 and 9.2. After the machines are rebooted, both came up with what appear to be bios errors "no NFS partition". . . then a quarter of a screen filled with "Unable to load" . . . . errors. . . . and the occasional broken user folder icon. After several minutes the client machines will boot almost normally with the exception that the CD drive is no longer able to read disks. The CD drives do not spin up to the speed they did before the install. Both machines are now unable to boot from cd. I have swapped the Hard drive from a similar computer that did not have the client software installed; But the Power Macintosh G3 is still unable to read CD's. Any suggestions to restore the system/system's cd bios? etc? to the original state before the install. I have also checked both machines for a virus but they appear to be clean. The CD bios update from the apple sight is not able to locate the cd drives. Thanks,
