iChat AV doesn't require a camera to work, it will do audio only and
I'm pretty sure it works with any microphone available to the computer
whether it be built-in or plugged-in via the sound-in port, USB or
Firewire. iChat AV makes built-in text and audio chat capabilities in
ARD redundant and I don't expect Apple to ever put them back in ARD.

I haven't used ichat av but probably because ARD used the built in
microphone and you didn't need a camera.

Why do you need audio in ARD when you have iChat AV? Unless you need
it for older OS 9 clients.
