My understanding is that you would need to purchase that many licenses, as you still need to have the ARD Admin application installed to view the screen, which costs per seat.

That's my understanding and reason for the post. However, playing with semantics here, if you read the only "blub" from Apple that I can find:

No Per-Client Tax

Apple Remote Desktop 2 is astonishingly affordable. Priced at just $499 per administrator,

You'll see the word Administrator. The documentation specifically states "non-Administrator" when referring the User level use of the ARD Administration application. So, is Apple saying any User must have a license to use the Administration program, or only Administrator "level" Users. I presume that you need a license for any User regardless of system status; I hope that it's only for Administrators - that would work for the K-12 market and provide functionality "we" have been asking for in ARD that we _had_ in Network Assistant.

However, there is now some provision for ARD->VNC compatibility, and you can use VNC for free.

Which is my second option if the licensing ends up for the worse. I'm concerned about the level of security that can be set for VNC access. From what I can find in the documentation you can grant VNC access, or not, as it references only the control ability and then goes on to emphasize how this is a security concern:

Warning: Granting VNC access to control a screen is the most powerful feature in ARD, and can be equivalent to unrestricted access.

Obviously once I get a copy here to test, I'll have answers to many of these questions. Hopefully an Apple rep can answer the licensing question before I pester my local rep.
