RE: remote-desktop digest, Vol 1 #407 - 12 msgs

1) if you read the feature list you will see under Asset Management it will retrieve serial numbers
2) ARD 1.2 already does this, and so did Network Assistant 4... it's not obvious, i suppose, but you highlight a machine, choose "Software Search", and from the resulting list copy something to your machine or a newly highlighte machine in your computer list.

please tell us apple remote desktop can (1) get serial number of
computer and (2) copy files FROM client computer.

i use both ard and netoctopus...depends on what the client has. if
they need a solution, based on their budget, they would pick one or
the other. the drawback in mixed platform environments has always
been that remote desktop ONLY worked on macs...while netoctopus works
on mac/pc.

ard's new vnc features are really appealing...but without the basic
stuff (see #1+#2 above), it's not very useful.

hoping ard2 has more functions that we need. i have several shops
that are good candidates for the 10 seat license.

ps, what's with the lack of an upgrade path?!
