Hello,
I've got a very strange, very intermittent, and very annoying problem
with Apple Remote Desktop.
I've got a lab of 24 G4's, and I'm installing ARD (along with Panther)
on all of them. ARD works fine in terms of screen sharing, copying
files, restarting machines, etc, but I have trouble opening
applications.
* Sometimes, some applications will not open. ARD gives the
message, "xxx.app couldn't be opened on yyy because an error
occurred." In the ARD Computer Status window, I get the message,
"Error: Command failed."
* Sometimes, some applications will open and other times they
won't. Same application, same day, an hour apart.
* Usually, it works better to open an application from the "Open
Application" menu item rather than from the "Open Item" one. Sometimes
both work, sometimes one works, sometimes both fail.
* If I do a Copy Item, and select "Copy and Open", it seems to work
every time.
Any ideas on what's going on here? The ARD manual is silent on this
issue. I think it's a permissions issue, but I'm not sure about that.
My setup: system 10.3.4, with ARD client 1.2.4, ARD main program 1.2.
G4's, 933 MHz, with 512 MB of Ram.
