I've seen the same thing. Mine plays up when my internet connection goes
down but not sure why that should affect it. I don't run DNS on my internal
network. The only DNS setting I use are the ISP and are only input into the
network preferences for built-in ethernet. I also experience delayed log-in
that seem related...
I have heard that IP v6 may be the cause of the lag but haven't had time to
verify this. You could try disabling it in the network preferences.
