Re: Launching ARD

I have heard that IP v6 may be the cause of the lag but haven't had time to
verify this.

I have IPv6 disable on the workstation (admin station), this doesn't seem to matter.

I can reproduce the startup delay by extending the time between ARD launches. For example, if I launch the program, then quit and then relaunch it, it's very fast to load.
However.
If the program has been sitting idle for more than 5 minutes (or 10?) and then you quit, the next launch whether it's right away or 2 days from now will take a very long time. Same thing if the app has not been launched within so many minutes. Testing here I see if the app has been not run in 19 minutes, it takes forever to launch - forever being 3 minutes on a 1.5ghz PowerBook with 30 stations in the master list, 2 lists with machines and one empty list. Doesn't matter which list it was exited on (empty or populated or scanner).

Test machine has AirPort Extreme with IP as well as built-in Ethernet on 100T with IP. No IPv6. Also tried with all network interfaces disabled except for built-in ethernet, no difference there, either.

If the network is removed entirely, ARD will fire right up as was mentioned previously.
