ARD Inventory Reporting

What exactly is the process to setup the Inventory reporting to a central ARD server. I have a copy of ARD on my machine, and copy on our OS X Server. I would like the machines to report to the OS X Server, and my machine gather the inventory from that machine.

When I have tried setting up the ARD Admin to get the info from a remote host, it doesn't seem to take the machine I have selected. Would that be due to the fact that the two Admin clients, mine and the one on the server, have the same ARD Serial number?

If not, what do you think I could be missing.
