ARD3 and Spotlight (brief question)

Here's the scoop ...

I've got ARD 3 Admin on my Powerbook running perfectly (10.4.6).

I've got ARD 3 Client on an Xserve running fine and dandy on an Xserve (10.4.6 Server).

1. Take a PDF document from my Powerbook, using ARD 3, drag and drop it into the Desktop of the user logged in on the Xserve.

2. Wait a few minutes.

3. Run remote Spotlight from ARD 3 Admin on my Powerbook and do a search for content in the PDF document that was dropped on to the Desktop (restrict the search to the Home directory for example)

I can not get search results to yield a result even though I know there is such content within the PDF document. However, if I launch Preview to then read that PDF document on the ARD 3 client and then if I quit Preview, a subsequent remote Spotlight search with ARD 3 Admin works just fine.

Do I have to tweak the ARD 3 client such that mdimporter will automatically index a new file that has been dragged and dropped from ARD 3 Admin machine? If so, what to do? One would think that, on Mac OS X Server 10.4.x, that a launchd agent would be waiting in the wings and once it observes the dragged-and-dropped new document (such as a PDF), it would trigger Spotlight's mdimport to index that document.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

Sergio
