Custom Picture on a Locked Screen

Based on the information in this Apple Article
(http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=RemoteDesktop/3.0/en/ARDC866.html),
I should be able to use a GIF file as the Locked Screen Picture. The
original GIF file was named images001.gif which I changed to Locked Screen
Picture.gif. I then copied it to /Library/Preferences on the client
computer. I then lock that computer and the picture is the GIF file but
there is no animation at all, it's just the picture. Is there something
I'm missing?

I'm using Remote desktop 3.2 on OS 10.4.11 workstations (eMac PPC)
