Initial setup of ARD

I used ARD way, way back when it first came out and it was simple. I now have the new version and printed out the manual which fits in a big notebook. I have a school lab of 32 Macs - one designated for teacher. I installed the software and now am at a loss at what the next step should be. I called Apple and they said that it already exists in clients on Leopard. When I look on the "drive" window I see all the PCs in the computer lab 2 floors down plus all the cafeteria PCs, but none of my Macs. We are a PC district and we just moved into a new school where I got them to buy 100 Macs. The district techs hate me and my Macs and have even closed ports so I can't do basic updates.

Can someone give me the next step or two, please? Many thanks.
