Thread-topic: Yet another installer opening up Finder windows behind login window
User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/12.10.0.080409
I am learning that expecting companies to google, or read installer
guidelines, or adequately test installers is evidently too much work, and
that they sysadmin community is expected to do all that work for them, even
for $300 software.
My response to that attitude is of course, unprintable here.
But the latest problem child is Genuine Fractals Print Pro 5. If you have to
install it with Apple Remote Desktop et al to machines at a login window,
you better either reboot them immediately, or, edit the postflight script to
remove the osascript line that opens the Finder window so people can gaze
upon the glory of the installed application. It's near the end of the
script.
Honestly, if someone wants to report this as a bug, they're welcome to it.
I've given up on being nice about this kind of thing, because every time
I've tried, I've gotten blown off until I published yet another screed about
it. That seems to get some attention.
