I don't have Remote Desktop 3 yet -- I figure I'll need to as we add
more Mac users. From the Admin guide, I see that you need to install
it on whatever machines you want to manage.
#1 - Now, in my environment, we are already setup with openldap (ldap
over ssh, aka ldaps, actually) authentication IM, email, svn and
ssh/shell access. For our Mac desktops those aren't setup with ldap
authentication yet. What I'm wondering is the case for laptops -- i
should be able to configure it to fall back to local account
authentication also right? Is there some sort of caching of
credentials, similar to Windows?
#2 - I figure certain ports are open for Remote Desktop. I'd prefer
that if our laptop users are not at the office, then these ports
should be disabled. Is this already built-in to how Apple Remote
Desktop works?
