Thread-topic: two questions - desktop admin access for laptops; and ldap authentication to openldap
User-agent: Microsoft-Entourage/12.19.0.090515
#1 - From what I understand Authentication works as follows. The client
computer will first look to any local accounts that are set up on the
computer. If it cannot find a local account it then looks at Directory
Services. The service that the computer can authenticate against are
specified in /Applications/Utilities/Directory Utility.app. The search
order can be designated under the Search Policy. Note that only network
domain services can be reordered. The local domain services must remain the
first items.
#2 - I don't think you can specify different locations for firewall
settings, unless you want to develop some type of script that runs on
startup. You can either turn on the Firewall and configure it to allow ARD
through or you don't. Firewall settings can be specified through the
Security System Preference.
