Hello,
I'm using Arthur van Hoff excellent JRendevous library for my devious endeavor [1]. Everything works quiet nicely, expect that JRendevous doesn't reflect changing local IP addresses: e.g. if a machine moves around a network and gets a new IP address here and there, JRendevous still advertise the old (and by now invalid) IP address...
I would like to fix this problem, but I'm not that familiar with the internal working of DNS Service Discovery. Is there some documentation somewhere on how to invalid a DNS Service record to reflect its new IP address?
The Java 1.4.1 release notes [2] point out that InetAddress.getLocalHost() will now return the correct IP address if it has changed (it used to cache the value). So it should be possible for JRendevous to reflect such change. But I'm not quiet clear about which ZeroConf mechanism to use to trigger an update...
TIA :)
Cheers,
PA.
