Re: Updated mDNSResponder code and Conformance Test

Yuji,

When the test prompts you to change the device's address and press "enter" to continue, please make sure that after you reboot the device, you wait sufficiently long for the device to announce its new name before you press enter. As Marc said, the test queries for the last name it heard, but if it queries before the device sends an announcement it will not know the new name. This is only an issue with devices that change their name when you change their IP address.

Yuji,

On the one hand, we recommend that once the device changes its host name, it should store the new name in memory so that if you reboot the printer, it continues using the new name. On the other hand, that isn't a requirement in order to pass the Conformance Test, so the test should be able to deal with you not doing it.

The test normally uses the last cached name when it does a query, so assuming your device announces its host name when you power it on, I'm not sure why this isn't working.

Can you send me another packet trace from the Mixed Network section. Thanks.

Marc,

Thank you for the quick bugfix for Conformance Test. However I found
another problem again at verylast moment. This time it is not a kind of
inevidable, however.

At the very last moment of mixed-network test, ConformanceTest asked
me to configure a routable IP address(17.1.1.1) to the target'device.
I did that then test was failed.

The reason is, ConformanceTest remembers the deivce name is "pr00149f32"
because of the previous subsequent conflict test. But I have to reboot the
device in order to configure the routable IP address, so the device name
was fall back to the original name("pr00149f").

So I changed deivce name as well as routeable IP address before rebooting,
then the test has passed.

Following is the screen shot when the test fails:

Write test results to file "ConformanceTestResults"? Overwrites any existing logfile. (yes or no)
