Hi all,
I got an email from one of our network guys mentioning
that he's noticed a growing amount of Rendezvous multicasts on
the LAN. He reckons its for ad hoc networks and and not Enterprise
type LANs like ours. (about 3000 hosts, with approx 400 Macs)
So he wants to disable it on the network...
It isn't really used here as far as I can tell - a handful of people
share music via iTunes, and about 20 printers are broadcasting
their services - although I'd say nobody is actually using rendezvous
to connect to printers.
Any thoughts? Is there any way to reduce the multicasts, so he
won't take the drastic step of turning off the service?
Thanks,
Tim
