With iChat AV 2.0 (v145), if I leave the "port.p2pj" property out of the service info, I get an error when trying to initiate a conversation: "Cannot Chat. Oops, it looks like you're right. The method in iChat that actually opens the socket connection incorrectly gets the port number from the p2pj property, instead of from the port declared by the peer's service.

I'll file a bug report on that. Looks like we'll have to keep that @$% property around for a little while longer...
