Indeed, my project (avahi - http://freedesktop.org/Software/avahi/)
while linux only for now (I'll expand its portability later) is designed
to use (at least a session, if not system) daemon.
Which is why I am writing one and its not, IMHO, "oh great, yet another
linux mdns implementation"
Apart from caching, reduced traffic etc, what advantages do you see?
