Service discovery on Clusters vs Grids

We've been experimenting with an architecture in which an application can use Rendezvous to find instances of itself running on other systems on a local network and send computationally intensive jobs to these using Distributed Objects. The concept seems to be working pretty well, and we'd soon like to run this on a rack-mounted cluster, connected by a gigabit switch. I'm wondering if there are any differences between this scenario and the more common 'bunch of Macs on local network in a lab' situation that we should expect once we get our cluster up?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

Rick
