Hi
I have just had the great pleasure to spent some time with Stuart
Cheshire and Craig Keithley from Apple HQ while they were promoting
Rendezvous and hold a workshop here in Tokyo.
My company is a small local consulting firm specialising in VoIP
integration. I am the maintainer of the MacOSX build of the Asterisk
open source telephony server and author of Cocoa front-ends for it
[FYI see http://www.asterisk.org,
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk%20MacOSX%20Support]
I intend to bring Rendezvous support to Asterisk, that is to say, for
Asterisk to be able to advertise VoIP services through Rendezvous,
also service parameters for the automatic configuration of IP
telephones and so called analog telephone adapters (ATAs).
As it has been a long while since I have been doing any low level
programming (I usually do GUI wrappers for scripts or GUI tools that
generate configuration files, so not much low level API exposure), I
will probably need a little help from the Rendezvous community to get
this working.
On the other hand, if anybody is interested to participate in this
project, I am happy to teach you all I know about VoIP and Asterisk if
you teach me all I need to know about Rendezvous programming. Asterisk
is a GPL project and Rendezvous support is most sensibly implemented
as a loadable module, so it will also be GPLed. Anybody is welcome to
participate and MacOSX is a great platform to run a telephone service
on. I can be contacted off-list: the username is benjamin and the
domain is sunrise-tel dot com.
Anyway, I am looking forward to being part of the Rendezvous community.
thanks
rgds
