Thank you for your response. I am wondering how much control I have

I would need to vary the integration time of the sample- I suppose
that is
the primary question: what control do I have?
I am not sure but what you get from the API is minimal interaction
with the camera. You can take a picture or choose an existing picture
from the library. After that image object is in memory you can
manipulate however you like using CoreGraphics....

I apologize if I am asking the wrong list but it is the only one
that I
could find that mentioned Iphone.
My company has asked me about developing a commercial program
using the
camera but our needs are a little different so I thought I would
ask
before
starting to see if it is possible.
a) does software have control over the camera? Am I able to
defeat the
auto
exposure and gamma correction? Would I be able to 'measure'/
integrate
luminance over software programmable periods?
The only way to get access to the camera is via a native Obj-C
application. Not sure about what image processing you can do on the
phone but you can always set up a web service that will send the
image
taken to your server, do the processing there and return the image.
