I use a thing called FlexPDE, which is a non-specific partial
differential equation solver. Pretty good in 2D, not to hot in 3D.
Very good where you have mixed models (Heat and Current flow, for
example), and there are a load of of great examples with it. You can
get it from here...

The other (probably better) solution is Tetruss, by NASA. Craig Hunter
