In my experience with Retrospect, which I have used and loved since
version 2, it will not share a volume with anything else but its own
catalog file. Your volume will show lots of available space, but
Retrospect claims all of it, to allow the backup file to grow and grow. I
am using version 5 now, and have not confirmed that this is true with
version 6.
