Hello,

Does anyone have any experience w/ SolidWorks on a mac - even on Windows on a Mac?

I would like to know this as well. Also does anyone have contact info at SolidWorks to send requests/suggestions. Their web site seems to be a barrier to actual communication with the end user.

As I had indicated in a previous discussion on this list:

When Windows is running directly on Intel Mac hardware via Boot Camp, there is NO caveat (any more than there are "caveats" when it's running on hardware from Dell, HP, Gateway, or anything else). It's the same as Windows running on any other Intel-based PC, except this one just happens to be made by a company called Apple (and the machine also happens to be able to run Mac OS X).

It's likely that nearly anything would also run in virtualization software such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion, EXCEPT software with specific requirements for hardware peripherals/dongles not supported by the virtualization products, or software with specific accelerated graphics requirements.

But under Boot Camp, there is no reason it wouldn't work, within the constraints of the hardware itself meeting the actualy system requirements of a particular product. In other words, if you have ANY brand of PC, and the system requirements are met, there is no reason that Windows on a Mac via Boot Camp will be any different...whether or not a particular high-end graphics package is appropriate for virtualization is another issue that may be one of technical limitations and/or personal preference.

That said, it doesn't appear that anything but SolidWorks' eDrawings software are available for Mac OS X.
