I can tell you something that might give hope or despair:
VMWare does emulate DirectX rendering, so it seems likely that this
software might work. Why don't you download a trial version and test
it?
BTW, after a brief google search, I found a post fro 2006 that
indicated that Solidworks ran on VirtualPC, an inferior emulator if
you ask me. So I would be very hopeful.

As I had indicated in a previous discussion on this list:
When Windows is running directly on Intel Mac hardware via Boot
Camp, there is NO caveat (any more than there are "caveats" when
it's running on hardware from Dell, HP, Gateway, or anything
else). It's the same as Windows running on any other Intel-based
PC, except this one just happens to be made by a company called
Apple (and the machine also happens to be able to run Mac OS X).
It's likely that nearly anything would also run in virtualization
software such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion, EXCEPT
software with specific requirements for hardware peripherals/
dongles not supported by the virtualization products, or software
with specific accelerated graphics requirements.
Dave,
Well that EXCEPT is the problem. Running Solidworks with LabVIEW
is now an option to refine actual models in real time with hardware
feedback. This means you need Solidworks running on the Mac at the
same time LabVIEW is accessing hardware. Thus Bootcamp is not a
solution any more than purchasing a beige box would be.
Even virtualization would not work since the software needs close
coupling between the programs, one of which needs hardware access.
