- Timbuktu Pro: unusable through our firewall, which blocks
everything but ssh access.
Timbuktu can be configured to make "secure" connections, in which
case _all_ traffic is tunneled through SSH. Works fine through our
firewall.
Interesting. I downloaded the trial version, but couldn't get it to
work, so I contacted Netopia technical support. They told me I need
to enable access to port 407, or else use Skype (which is strictly
forbidden on French research networks exactly because it permits to
circumvent firewalls).
If I remember correctly, the problem is creating a "registered user
account", once that is done I should be able connect through ssh
only. But I can't create a registered user account without already
having access to a GUI screen. Physical access to the machines
requires a two-hour drive, so I didn't try.
Konrad.
