Re: Scitech Digest, Vol 4, Issue 54

Slightly lazy today. I'm trolling around for links to free FORTRAN
compilers. I'll start googling and "ask.coming" but I'll graciously accept
the wisdom of the lists.

I have been using ifort on my Intel Mac for a year, and it works well; however, I have an issue with my code, MPI, and netcdf. Basically, I cannot get more than 1 MPI thread to work using ifort (everything compiles fine, just hangs during execution). It works fine with g95, gfortran, and the Absoft Beta--for some reason, it won't with ifort. The Absoft intel fortran compiler should be released in the coming weeks, as far as I know.

PGI is also getting ready to release a beta version of their compiler for Intel Macs, you can apply to test it at their website.

For free, you have: gfortran, g77, and g95. All of which are available for both PPC and Intel. I've used them all.

Cheers,
Brian
