My statistical unit currently uses SAS 9 to data mine a large amount of corporate data. The unix server is now old and almost ready to give up the ghost, and so I have been asked to investigate moving this data to a new windows machine. The problem relates to the large amount of stored processes sitting on this machine, along with many years of data tables etc. Current estimates from our IT branch state that this exercise will cost my unit tens of thousands of dollars. SAS of course say it is all so easy but I'm hesitant to act without a thorough investigation of the consequences, and possibly having to rewrite many years of macro's etc.
My question relates to users who may have faced similar issues and I'm chasing some advice as to how you may have resolved them.
I would welcome any advice for the many talented people on this list.
