Thanks for the reply.

I got an off-list reply from Dallas Trinkle who got VASP running on Intel. The machine I have (remote) access to needs to get MKL installed first to replicate that way, but I have good hope that it would work with Dallas' help. Sofar the most likely suspect for what I did wrong is using the compiler to do preprocessing rather than cpp.

Only one thought comes to mind, perhaps a mismatch of ifort and the version of Mac OS you are using.

I'm trying to transition some of my VASP calculations from older G5 hardware to a MacPro. Has anyone ever tried VASP on OSX/Intel? I gave it a shot today, ran into a couple of strange things. Most could be worked around easily, but what is sofar stopping me, is that ifort hangs at the link stage. At least, with the 'fortcom' process taking only half a cpu and not having produced anything noticeable after an hour, and not giving me back the command line, I assume it's hung up.

Has anyone tried VASP on an Intel Mac? Would anyone have a guess what could be causing the hangup at the link stage?
