One feature of MathType is that it can produce its output in any
common variety of TeX you desire (5 variants of TeX, and 4 variants of
MathML). I am not fluent in TeX, so I find it convenient to construct
the equation in MathType, then paste the TeX output into a TeX
document. When I am using Word 2008 (or earlier), I just paste into
the document using the usual MathType (PICT) format. Now that iWorks
09 has adopted MathType as its standard, MathType has a lot going for
it.

Scientists and science groupies,
I write scientific papers on a Mac using InDesign mainly. I'm
interested in getting a new equation editor that is OS X compatible
because of the imminent installation of a new Intel Mac running
Leopard that will not support my Expressionist 2.04 that runs under
classic.
I would appreciate any recommendations and/or comments and additional
suggestions.
A further question: if I had Mathmatica, Maple, or Matlab, can one
copy and paste equations written in those calculating programs into
text processors such as Word or InDesign?
Thank you!
