Apple cannot allow you to use Sherlock as part of a product or company name.
You may, however, use Sherlock in a referential phrase on packaging,
promotional/advertising materials to describe that your product is
compatible with Sherlock. In doing so, you must make certain that your use
of Sherlock does not create a sense of endorsement, sponsorship, or false
association with Apple or Apple products or services and that the use of
Sherlock does not show Apple or its products in a false or derogatory light.
Also, you may use Sherlock in a domain name provided that your website only
serves as a non-commercial electronic informational forum concerning Apple9s
Sherlock technology. You must provide a disclaimer of sponsorship,
affiliation, or endorsement by Apple on your website:, e.g., "(Title) is an
independent (publication) and has not been authorized, sponsored, or
otherwise approved by Apple Computer, Inc." and a trademark attribution
notice giving notice of Apple9s ownership of Sherlock.
